Only four players in the NFL have been targeted more than Michael Wilson this season: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chris Olave, Amon-Ra St. Brown and his own teammate Trey McBride. Wilson has 31 targets. Marvin Harrison Jr. has nine.
It is not a snap-count accident. Wilson has played 85%, 94% and 93% of Arizona's snaps. Harrison has played 78%, 74% and 77%, so he is on the field; the ball is just not going to him. Last week, with Jacoby Brissett throwing 52 times in a 36-30 loss at San Francisco, Wilson caught 11 of 17 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown and finished WR4.
The quiet Week 2 is the obvious objection: seven targets, two catches, 18 yards. That was a 31-7 home loss to Seattle in which Brissett threw for 95 yards, and Wilson still drew seven targets.
FantasyPros' consensus ranks Wilson WR23 this week, at a Giants defense that has allowed the 12th-most fantasy points to receivers. We have him as one of our 12 Must Start receivers. A target share like this is about the most stable thing in fantasy football, and it should not need a second big week before the rankings notice.
