Jalen Hurts Is The Consensus QB9. His Last Two Weeks Say Sit Him.

The case for starting Jalen Hurts is that he does not need a big passing day, because the legs give him a floor no pocket passer has. In 2026 that floor is lower every week: seven carries in Week 1, five in Week 2, four in Week 3, for 87 rushing yards in total. That is 29 a game.

Without the rushing, the finishes have followed it down. QB8 in Week 1, QB13 in Week 2, QB24 in Week 3, when he threw for 153 yards and an interception in a 27-7 loss in Chicago. The passing has not covered the gap either: 620 yards in three games.

Now the passing game is thinning. DeVonta Smith, whose 27 targets are nearly twice as many as any other Eagles receiver, missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury. Dallas Goedert missed it too, with a knee injury, and is listed as doubtful.

The consensus has Hurts QB9, inside the starter line. We have him as a Sit, which is a claim he finishes outside the top 12. The carries are one reason. The other is Philadelphia's estimated total of 20.25 points. Over 17 weeks of backtesting, a quarterback ranked fifth to 12th on a team expected to score 23 points or fewer finished outside the top 12 64% of the time; on a team expected to score 25.5 or more, 44%. If Smith cannot play, the case gets stronger.

If he runs ten times on Sunday, this call will look bad. Through three weeks he has not done it once.
