Saquon Barkley Finished RB30. Buy Him This Week.

Saquon Barkley managed 9.0 PPR points in Week 1 and finished RB30, behind names like Kyle Monangai and Devin Singletary. He ran 15 times for 83 yards, caught one of two targets for minus three yards, and dropped another. For a player drafted as a first-round running back, it reads like the start of a problem.

It is not a usage problem. Barkley played 39 of Philadelphia's 55 offensive snaps, 71 percent. He took 15 of the 18 carries that went to Eagles running backs; Will Shipley had two on 10 snaps and Tank Bigsby had one. There is no committee here and no sign of one.

What happened is that the Eagles ran only 55 offensive plays and scored through the air. Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes, and Dallas Goedert turned five targets into a TE3 finish. When a team runs few plays and the touchdowns go to the passing game, the lead back posts exactly this kind of line: plenty of work and no scoring.

The honest concern is efficiency. Barkley's longest run went for 42 yards, so his other 14 carries produced 41. If that is the true rate, the volume will not save him. But one game of carries after an offseason is a tiny sample. His share of the backfield is the most reliable thing we learned, and it does not look like decline.

Barkley is a START on our sheet at Tennessee. If the manager who drafted him is nervous after Sunday, this is the cheapest he will be all season.
